christmas morning at the homestead

We had a great a christmas morning. Mary Lew was withs us, which was excellent. Alex wasn't super into it this year, but still really enjoyed the opening of presents process. He actually got a little carried away occasionally and opened other people's presents.

Thanksgiving Take 1

We had a great time up in Virgina for Thanksgiving. Alex and Emmett had a great time reading books, sliding, chasing each other around the house and screaming. The adults had a great time watching them.

Budding Musician

Alex really enjoys it when Blaine gets out his violin or guitar. Alex either wants to play those or grab his guitar and play along. This is a love for music that we hope to keep alive as he gets older. We would really like to end up with a piano and some other instruments in the house. I would like to start taking some lessons when we do ever get a piano.

Halloween 2010

So we went the easy route for Halloween, but he was still pretty cute. Alex did not go trick or treating this year, but he very much enjoyed passing out candy to all the trick or treaters. There were only two costumes that gave him a fright, otherwise he loved it.

Myrtle Beach 2010, take 1

The Ripley's Aquarium was so amazing, I loved it just as much as Alex. The tube through the danfer reef was full of sharks, rays, fish, and even had a sea turtle.

We had a totally great time in Myrtle Beach. The boys played hard with each other, and really gave us adults a nice break. Emmett and Alex just loved each other. They would run up and down the halls yelling the whole time, nearly running into one another. It was awesome.

The last installmemt, Summer in Cal

And here we are at the Santa Barbara pier. I would not let Alex out of his stroller for this one, as I could just picture him making what he thought was a comical break from me.
We went to the Santa Barbara zoo and fed fishes, again you might notice my tight grasp on the wee one next to water.

Alex and dad enjoying the slide.

Tragically, I have none of the videos I took in Calif because in a grand attempt to make Alex happy on the flight home, yeah right, I took out my camera to show him pics, and neglected to put it back in my bag. But, pics are coming in from family cameras, so I hope to survive:)

here are some more great ones

Thousand Oaks

Alex and papa Mon were very cute in their matching yellow shirts. Caryn enjoyed reading a tale to Alex, as did just about every person who saw Alex, he looooves having stories read to him.

the family

Alex has had such a great time visiting all of his family here in California. It has been a ;little tiring for me:), but i am so happy for this chance for him.

Summer in CA take 2

One of the great things about Southern Calif is all the wonderful parks. Alex was a little scared of the slides at first, but now he loves them.

Summer in Calif, take 1

Our trip out to Southern California has supplied, and keeps supplying, so many wonderful opportunities for Alex to spend with his family that i am sure this topic will take up a number of future posts:) But i thought i wold get this out for the fam not in the state.

The first few days it was actually cold, pants and jacket sort of weather, but just before Blaine left it warmed up and we got to take advantage of my dad's hot tub, though really it was never all that hot.

Play Doh

Last weekend Alex discovered his newest interest, play doh. The first day he played with it seriously we played for almost 4 hours. At one point we had to go out and get some accutriment, else I went insane with the redundancy of it all:) I figure this has to be great for his fine motor skills.

When Simon first visited Alex, way back when he was just a few months old he started singing him this song and contined each subsequent visit, and it warms my heart that Alex remembers it.

Papa Mone

When my mom left this past April we told Alex that she was on a plane flying home to Papa Mone (Simon), since then all planes lead to Papa Mone:)

The Guitar!!!

Alex has known what a guitar is for a long time. His Grant Margie has one he plays with. But now he owns one of his very own.

2nd Bday Fun

Alex had a great birthday. We opened presents, played outside, ate pizza, and chowed on some brownies and ice cream. Really can any one ask for a better birthday? I think not.

Belly Button

Alex has recently been a little obssessed with his belly button. He walks around with his finger on his belly button all the time, either through his cloths or, if he is lucky and not wearing a onesie. he pulls the shirt and gets to his belly button. There are times that his belly button is actually pretty red from being touched so much. I think its silly and cute, Blaine is worried 10 years from now he will still be doing it and kids at school will make fun of him.

Buddha and Zebra

So, I collect Buddhas and Alex now likes Buddhas, as well as Yoddas (don't ask), but in the attached vid he intoduced Buddha to zebra:)

The Hair Cut

So, my mom came out this past week and upon looking at Alex's hair told me I was no longer allowed to cut it. Alex went to get his first pro hair cut today. Other than crying when they sat him on the booster seat and when she tried to put the little jacket around him, he did a super job:) Really though, as long as he was in my lap, getting hair all over me, he was really good:) And I do have to say the new do is much smater than the ones I gave him.

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Alex really loves being outside. This week he has loved playing in his new sandbox and today he discovered the joy of blowing on a dandelion.

Grandma Nancy Visits

Having Grandma visit was soooo much fun. We got to spend time looking for Goldbug, eatting homemade peanutbutter cookies, and of course who could forget the grilled cheese sandwhich with ranch dressing?
